The Organisation

The Centre for Education, Research and Conservation of Primates and Nature (CERCOPAN) is a UK-registered Charity (Reg. No. 1116955) with operations in Cross River State, Nigeria (www.cercopan.org). Since 1995, CERCOPAN has worked to conserve Nigeria’s primates and rainforests. Taking an integrated approach to conservation, CERCOPAN’s work benefits monkeys, communities, and the rainforest to ensure long-term sustainable impact. CERCOPAN has two sites: our administrative and primate rehabilitation headquarters in Calabar, and our conservation centre at Rhoko Forest, Iko Esai.  

The Position

CERCOPAN is recruiting for a Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator to start as soon as possible. The post holder will be based in Calabar, Nigeria and will be responsible for will be responsible for developing a long-term online fundraising strategy; and enhancing and developing all communications strategies. They will manage and deliver a range of initiatives to increase awareness of our organisation, raise funds and boost the organisation's profile through social media, website management, newsletter, crowdrise sites, blogs, event management etc.

Duties

  • Write clear, concise and effective press releases, blogs and newsletter articles
  • Content generation and management of social media, website and blog
  • Copy editing and layout of e-newsletter
  • Organise online fundraising initiatives
  • Manage a communication strategy and calendar of activities
  • Set up and manage a donor/contact database
  • Image management and digital content uploading
  • Respond to inbound correspondence from supporters, fundraisers, and third-party organizations
  • Proactively liaise with radio, TV, print and online channels (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, blogs, digital news platforms, etc.) to raise CERCOPAN’s profile
  • Secure and manage relationships with celebrities, ambassadors and third party organisations
  • Develop and lead an ambassador engagement program for events and fundraising campaigns
  • Use social media analytical tools and produce a monthly report complete with insights and measurables

Person specification

  • Degree in relevant subject
  • Strong technology skills, including experience with Microsoft office, wordpress and social media
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English are required
  • Advanced research, and communication skills
  • Highly organised, able to function well under pressure and work on multiple projects autonomously
  • Demonstrated commitment to conservation and the capacity to master and represent the mission and programs of CERCOPAN is essential.

Provisions

Room, board, flights, visa provisions and a modest local stipend will be paid for a 1 year contract. Vaccinations and insurance etc. are the responsibility of the volunteer.
