Marketing & Development Assistant

About Earthdance:
Earthdance is an artist-run workshop, residency, and retreat center where individuals and groups engage in experiential learning and creative exchange through dance and other arts, social justice, and environmental programming.

The volunteer program at Earthdance is an educational experience in community living, personal growth, and professional development. Through the program, volunteers receive enrichment in a variety of areas including interpersonal dynamics, conflict resolution, deep listening, and improvisational practices, along with the development of professional skill sets running various aspects of a nonprofit organization. The program offers volunteers a glimpse into Earthdance, while deepening transferable skill sets for one’s life. Our volunteers live on-site as a component of our residential community educational program.

Position description:
The Marketing & Development Assistant is a volunteer position, responsible for supporting the Marketing & Development Coordinator in all marketing and fundraising efforts for Earthdance. This position works closely with the Marketing & Development Coordinator to implement comprehensive marketing and fundraising strategies that ensure timely, creative communications for optimal levels of public engagement, brand consistency, and donor stewardship.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Marketing

  • Conducts research to support and expand digital and print marketing strategies.

  • Provides list management, communications, and print and digital design support for marketing campaigns.

  • Helps execute social media efforts.

  • Helps oversee documentation and archiving for programs and events.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Marketing & Development Coordinator.

Development

  • Supports all aspects of donation processing.

  • Provides list management, communications, and print and digital design support for fundraising campaigns.

  • Crafts fundraising reports and provides additional support for major donor stewardship.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Marketing & Development Coordinator.

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Two years of higher education, or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Comfortability with social media

  • Comfortability with internet research

  • Strong attention to detail and organization

  • Demonstrated time-management skills and self-motivated

  • Strong interest in cooperative living and community building

 

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience with e-marketing, print and/or digital advertisements, and/or fundraising campaigns

  • Basic familiarity with Adobe Illustrator (or a desire to learn)

  • Comfort with developing donor and media relations

  • Strong writing and copy editing skills

  • Ability to maintain positivity and composure under pressure

  • Ability to handle changes in the work environment with ease

How to Apply

The initial volunteer period is four months, with possibility of extension based upon performance. This is a 30 hour/week, residential position. Non-monetary compensation is provided through room and/or board.
