Working as part of a marketing team and in coordination with a program team, under the management of the Director of Regional Marketing Programs, the Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and executing integrated communications to meet program and organizational objectives. The Portland-based Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for working with internal and external clients, including CSG staff and subcontractors, trade allies, utilities and vendors. This position will focus primarily on CSG’s Washington programs—RePower Bainbridge, RePower Bremerton and RePower Kitsap.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with CSG program and marketing staff to develop and write communications materials, advertising, and public relations initiatives to promote consumer and contractor awareness and participation in WA energy programs.
  • Lead development, copy writing and production of program marketing materials, reports, promotional presentations and public relations.
  • Develop strategy and coordinate content for program websites and social media pages.
  • Act as lead for WA program’s communications needs, including public relations, communications and promotional support on a day-to-day basis.
  • Develop customer education and sales materials for use in direct mail, presentations, online communications, public relations and media outreach, which are targeted to increase awareness, participation and public visibility of the programs.
  • Maintain excellent communications and responsiveness with clients, internal staff, trade allies and relevant regional/national groups.
  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, proofing and quality assurance. Coordinate the production and distribution of various communications with outside vendors, including printers and mail houses.
  • Ensure consistent messaging, create and preserve brand standards and administer message quality (style/grammar) in accordance with the client’s branding guidelines. Apply appropriate communication style and method to distinct target audiences.
  • Carefully monitor communications response/readership data and other performance and marketing metrics. Help convene focus groups and develop and conduct surveys to shape communications.
  • Conduct interviews with customers and partners to develop case studies and enhance communication materials.Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field
  • 3 – 5 years of communications experience including copywriting, editing, account management, advertising, public relations and marketing.
  • Knowledge and experience in media, print production and public relations.
  • Capable of understanding and communicating energy efficiency to the general public.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively influence and relay ideas, resolve issues and offer solutions within a team environment.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Market analysis and strategic planning.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook, social media (Facebook, Twitter) and website content management.
  • Working knowledge of AP Style.

 

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
