Are you interested in developing a career in marine conservation?

JNCC advises Government on UK and international nature conservation and is seeking an enthusiastic individual to take on the role of Marine Support Officer within the Marine Ecosystem Assessment and Advice Team in Peterborough. 

Marine Support Officers provide scientific administration and technical support to enable JNCC to provide marine conservation advice. Within the Marine Ecosystem Assessment and Advice team the Marine Support officer would work on supporting the team on a wide range of tasks to deliver assessments of the state of marine biodiversity and ecosystems to meet national and EU Directives.

The position advertised would require someone with a background in marine ecology with

data management and GIS skills to support the storage and analysis of biological, physical and human activities data. The ideal candidate would be experienced at using software such as Access, Excel and R to manage and manipulate large data sets. Skills in managing spatial data using software such as R, ArcGIS or QGIS would also be valuable.
