Looking for an opportunity to work in a unique tropical country? Do you like the sound of living on a tropical island with secluded beaches and forests to explore? Experience life in far out places with like minded people?
Madagascar Research and Conservation Institute are currently looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic intern to join as a staff member on the marine conservation team. MRCI is a government approved institute undertaking environmental research for and on behalf of the Malagasy Government and our partners which are based in the North West Madagascar.
The successful applicant must be independently motivated, work as a valued member of the team, able to motivate and lead small groups, be experienced in leading dives, conduct talks and presentations to volunteers and within the community. For the role it is an advantage that the candidate holds the following qualifications/experience;
Our main project is research initiative is on the coral reef filled waters surrounding Nosy Komba using scuba surveys, as well as other projects such as; artifical reef building, turtle monitoring and local environmental awareness/education. The role will also involve assisting with the general running base camp and project such as volunteer coordination. This is not a 9-5 role so the successful applicant will have a balanced personality, be able to deal with all situations at all hours, self-motivated and enthusiastic about all aspects of life in the field.

The position requires a minimum commitment of 6 months to start in July/August 2016. Accommodation and all meals will be provided when at Turtle Cove. You will need to cover your own pre-departure costs including flights, personal equipment, vaccinations and visas.
