Summary: Shallow Waters is a marine conservation NGO working toward a community-led coral reef management programme in the Koh Sdach archipelago, Cambodia. As part of our commitment in the region, Shallow Waters is seeking a Marine Research Officer (MRO) to manage their volunteer marine research, conservation and diving activities. This is an exciting opportunity for a young, dedicated Marine Biologist/Ecologist to get involved in practical fieldwork, help develop new community-conservation initiatives and develop new leadership skills. Personal Specification: The successful candidate will have an MSc in marine biology, ecology, zoology or a relevant discipline. S/he must be a PADI Scuba diving instructor and have experience in underwater marine survey techniques and research in a tropical environment. S/he must be prepared for long working hours in a small team environment, both living and working together, and will be able to liaise with customers and volunteers in a friendly, effective and diplomatic manner. Roles & Responsibilities: The role will include developing and implementing research activities and overseeing the volunteer programme. This will include: training of personnel in underwater survey techniques and scuba diving, collection and analysis of data, participation in community activities and written scientific and other reports.
