Job Description

As Natural Power continues to grow, we are looking for a Marine Renewables Business Development Manager to join our team.  The post will be based in Orkney therefore the applicant will ideally be based on Orkney or must be willing to spend at least 3 days a week in Orkney.

 

You will be responsible for developing commercial working relationships and the winning of new work in the wave and tidal energy sector.  You will promote, support and represent the Natural Power Development, Ecology and Technical departments along with our sister business SeaRoc, with a focus on the Orcadian/Pentland and wider UK market.

 

You will contribute to the project management of marine renewable projects and build on our market presence in the north of Scotland, in particular Orkney and Shetland through active promotion of Natural Power and SeaRoc services.  You will develop information gathering networks and feedback opportunities to the marine group members.  You shall lead the tender process for selected marine renewable projects, including the compilation and submission of tenders and attendance at bid interviews.  You will also develop and maintain excellent working relationships and all industry stakeholders.

 

This post is initially for a period of 12 months, however it is envisaged that the post will become permanent, subject to delivery of key targets.

Qualifications

You will have a good understanding of project development and delivery, ideally for marine renewable energy based projects.  You will also have a good understanding of the local and national drivers for marine renewables as well as the consenting framework within the industry.  Further to this, you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the ecological and socio-economic considerations for marine renewables and a broad knowledge on the marine renewable energy marketplace including key technologies, stakeholders and current policy.

 

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels as you will have responsibility for contract management.  As a result, you must have excellent report writing and project management skills.  Often working independently, you will be able manage your own time and workload.
