Description

As part of the Climate Change programme, SNH supports the drive towards reducing reliance on fossil fuels with the provision of carefully sited renewable energy installations. As a major contributor towards sustainable economic growth, the renewables industry is expanding rapidly and SNH is contributing by working with the Scottish Government, Local Authorities other agencies and developers. We provide advice on new sites and technologies on land and at sea and extensions to existing sites.  In response to increased requests for our advice, SNH wishes to expand its efforts by appointing more staff to prepare advice and guide development.  As a member of the renewables team, the post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating and responding to marine renewable energy development casework on behalf of the Areas particularly in relation to off shore wind farm developments in the Firths of Forth, Tay and Solway and around the Argyll Islands.  The post holder will represent SNH with industry and government. The post is part of the Sustainable Land Use unit and will work closely with Area teams and specialist advisors in Policy & Advice Directorate, as well as colleagues in the Renewables Team.
