Description

The IUCN center for Mediterranean cooperation, based in Málaga Spain, is looking for a marine project intern, for supporting the IUCN Red list Assessment of species and action framework.

As part of the Mediterranean Biodiversity Red list Assessment, IUCN-Med is carrying out an assessment on the conservation status of the species of Porifera (sponges) as well as the updated of few additional species (e.g. seagrasses) in the Mediterranean region. The activities to be carried out include revision of assessments to be finalized, contacting specialists in the region, gathering information related to the group to be evaluated, organizing online evaluation with experts, reviewing and editing evaluations, and preparing the report of results. With the final outputs is expected the preparation of communication material for the website and social media.

Additionally, the internship will assist IUCN in the preparation of an online seminar with key experts and main government institutions from Mediterranean countries to present an update of the situation of the critically endangered pen shell, Pinna nobilis and a discussion of recovery actions.
