Description
A detailed programme of work will be agreed in consultation with the line manager (Policy & Advice Manager – Marine & Coastal). The successful candidate will work closely with other members of Coastal and Marine Ecosystems and Use Unit (CMEU) and Area staff and will be expected to:

Provide advice on oil and gas casework in inshore waters around Scotland including on proposals relating to seismic survey, exploration and production wells, platforms and pipelines.

Support SNH staff in north-east Scotland, including Shetland and Orkney, through the provision of advice on general marine casework such as proposals relating to harbours, piers, slipways etc.

Interpret marine data held by SNH to support the future development of marine planning and marine protected areas in Scottish inshore waters, including through the production of regional summaries of marine nature conservation interest.

Review and update SNH’s Maritime Natural Heritage Trends notes to support SNH’s contribution to the State of Scotland’s Seas report and Charting Progress 2 in 2010.

Work with CMEU’s Data Management Officer to develop and manage CMEU’s e-resources including reports, slides and video collection.

Manage and/or participate in the SNH contribution to relevant research projects.

Help finalise the publication of contract reports, relevant research and development projects related to marine and coastal work.
