Marine Management Organisation calls for tender for research and sustainability appraisal
The relationship between marine planning and coastal socio-economic development with particular reference to the East of England
Deadline: 4.00 pm 9 February 2011
The aim of the marine planning system is to ‘contribute to the achievement of sustainable development’. There are specific expectations that marine planning will make some kind of contribution to ensuring sustainable coastal communities. To undertake marine planning, we require a more in-depth understanding of the potential for marine planning to facilitate socio-economic opportunities for communities on the coast. We are commissioning a study that will form part of the evidence base and analysis for the first areas for which plans are to be produced (East Inshore and East Offshore) in the context of the whole of England’s coast.

Sustainability appraisal for East Inshore and East Offshore marine plans
Deadline: 12 noon 16 February 2011
We are seeking to procure contractors to assist in the development, management and production of a sustainability appraisal (SA) report for the East Inshore and East Offshore marine plan areas.
The SA development and delivery process for both East Offshore and East Inshore marine plans will run in parallel under the same procurement as two separate lots. Both lots will be managed under separate contracts, tracking the progress of marine plan-making processes. Although contracts will be managed together by a single team at the MMO they will be subject to separate contract agreements. One provider will be appointed per lot. Contractors are free to bid for one or both lots.
