Job description

As a Case Officer working within the Marine Licensing Team you will be responsible for delivering a diverse range of licence applications for licensable activities within our marine area.

You will have a passion for the marine sector and be able to develop the skills needed to fulfil the MMO’s role as an enabling regulator. You will understand the importance of the regulatory process and the position of the MMO as a regulator, and effectively deliver fair, open and transparent decision making.

The team’s work is diverse and depending on the role you will:

  • process marine licence applications for a variety of sectors including:
    • offshore wind energy
    • tidal and wave energy
    • marine mineral extraction
    • ports and harbours
    • nuclear energy
  • advise applicants about relevant regulatory frameworks
  • provide guidance and advice to prospective applicants
  • handle correspondence and briefings for senior managers and Defra
  • effectively manage cases to ensure compliance and resolution of issues.
