Description

As statutory advisor on nature conservation to the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations, JNCC are looking for a Marine Evidence Manager based in Peterborough or Aberdeen.

As Marine Evidence Manager, you will lead a team of scientist to undertake practical offshore surveys in order to provide evidence on our most important seabed habitats and species.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • provide inspiring leadership to a small team of specialists, to deliver offshore MPA and wider environment surveys, including consideration of experimental design, statistical power, appropriate sampling techniques and value for money;
  • lead liaison with partner organisations or contractors when required in order to manage survey delivery to gather seabed habitat evidence for monitoring and surveillance;
  • disseminate information on JNCC’s marine work, including preparation of peer reviewed papers and reports, updating the relevant pages of JNCC’s website, via the internet, and through presentations at conferences and meetings;
  • solve problems in circumstances where there is no precedent and make decisions by pragmatically weighing up complex issues and risks; and,

The successful candidate will have expertise in managing science projects and understand the practicalities of offshore survey. Experience of project management, including identifying and allocating work and resources, target setting, risk assessment, evaluation, monitoring and reporting, and quality control is essential.
