ERM HONG KONG seeks an exceptional individual to join as a Marine EIA Consultant in our Marine Sciences team in Hong Kong. The role will be specifically to assist/take a lead on marine related Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects in Hong Kong and throughout the Asia Pacific region.

THE CANDIDATE:
Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic and energetic; they will be persuasive communicators (both verbal and written) who are comfortable in dealing with management and operators at all levels. You must have a passion for marine environmental science and have a background in impact assessment (EIA). You will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects in the marine environment including baseline and monitoring studies, sensitivity studies, mainly for the oil and gas, power and mining industry but also increasingly for marine infrastructure development.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Candidates should have a postgraduate qualification, preferably PhD, in Marine Ecology, Oceanography, Marine Science or Coastal Engineering;
  • Specialism in coral ecology is desirable, preferably with field work experience. Experience in Southeast Asia would be a benefit;
  • A good knowledge of biological statistical analysis would be advantage;
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in environmental consultancy or environment focussed non-governmental organisations is essential;
  • GIS skills particularly in data management, spatial analysis and mapping and familiarity with ArcGIS would be an advantage;
  • Demonstrable project management awareness/skill is advantageous;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team is essential;
  • Excellent report writing skills. Fluency in both written and spoken English is a fundamental requirement. Chinese or other language of the asia pacific region is considered advantageous.
