The Opportunity 

Due to the continued success of the Ecology and Hydrology department, we are looking to recruit a Marine Ecologist based in either,Falkirk,Newcastle orDumfries and Galloway. 

You will primarily be responsible for providing technical support on Renewable Energy projects.  More specifically working in conjunction with Project Managers, you will provide technical support on Environmental Impact Assessments and Habitats Regulations Assessments.  This information will be used in during the consenting and construction phase of offshore wind, wave and tidal energy projects.  

Duties and responsibilities associated with this role include: 

  • Project management and EIA coordination
  • Support offshore team in undertaking EIA and HRA in relation to offshore renewable projects.
  • Review project reports.
  • Prepare scoping reports, EIA chapters and EIA approach documents.
  • Prepare Information for Habitat Regulations Assessment / Appraisal.
  • Liaise with clients, landowners and statutory consultees throughout projects.

Qualifications and Experience 

Ideally you will hold a degree or equivalent in a biological, environmental or ecological discipline.  Prior experience gained within a similar ecological and or environmental consultancy would be highly advantageous.  

Ideally you will have experience in the following: 

  • Compiling EIA chapters
  • Completing Habitats Regulations Appraisal / Assessments
  • Project management
  • Budget management 

You will have excellent communication skills, being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format.  In addition to this, you will have first-rate interpersonal skills being capable of building relationships with clients, staff and third parties alike.  You will be highly motivated and committed with excellent time management skills, being capable of managing and prioritising your own challenging and often conflicting workload.  You will be analytical and meticulous by nature, with an ability to solve problems in an innovative manner
