Description

The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) Southeast Regional Marine Program works across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida to implement a diverse set of coastal and ocean marine conservation strategies.  Efforts include habitat mapping, ocean planning, coastal policy, climate adaptation and restoration.  Our work is done through on-the-ground projects within each state chapter and through partner engagement in policy and planning activities. The Marine Conservation Intern will work in coordination with the Southeast Regional Marine Director, out of the Mt. Pleasant, SC office, to implement conservation business planning, policy analysis, research, and communication activities.  Basic duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting development of TNC’s regional marine conservation business plan
  • Conduct research on coastal and marine conservation topics
  • Maintain calendar and draft announcements for team calls and meetings
  • Have a leadership role in drafting one strategy under the business plan
  • Drafting communication materials related to TNC’s marine strategies for use on the website, newsletters, factsheets and presentations.
  • Developing an electronic library of coastal and oceans papers, articles and information for use by TNC staff
  • Working with state, federal and local partners to collect and evaluate marine policies and data.
