The ICCT is an independent, non-profit research organization that promotes policies to improve energy efficiency and reduce or eliminate climate and air pollution in the transportation sector by providing timely, accurate information and data-driven advice to government agencies, researchers, the media, NGOs, and others with a role in making, influencing, or reporting on those policies.
Position Summary
The managing editor will oversee the ICCT's technical publications program, which is at the core of the organization's mission. He or she will manage a small team of freelance editors and designers, serve as ICCT's principle in-house editor, and work with research staff and other members of the communications team to coordinate a large and growing stream of not only research publications but related policy briefings, blogs, fact sheets, presentations. In addition, the managing editor will help plan and carry out publicity and outreach activities aiming to disseminate ICCT's technical research to the broadest possible international audience.
Qualifications
- Significant editorial experience in a research-focused environment
- Expertise in both editing technical and scientific material for subject-matter experts and presenting specialized, technical material to nonspecialist audiences
- Well-informed on environmental policy questions in general; familiarity with climate issues and transportation-related policy a plus
- Proficiency with business and publishing software applications and web-based publishing tools
