In the United States and around the world, Climate Advisers creates and implements large-scale, cost-effective strategies to strengthen climate action and improve lives. The firm conducts this work in partnership with leading philanthropies, think tanks, advocacy groups, international institutions, companies and governments.

  • It catalyzes action and innovative financing to reduce climate pollution from forests and lands.
  • It creates climate solutions that accelerate sustainable development, spur economic growth, and fight poverty.

Impact

Climate Advisers is committed to the following overarching goals:

  • Developing innovative policy solutions, which quickly move to the center of the debate.
  • Working to expand the realm of the politically possible, creating and executing political strategies that turn good ideas into reality.
  • Conducting transformative analysis that gives important context and spurs action.
  • Presenting targeted and elite communications to change minds and set the agenda.

Team

The Climate Advisers’ team currently includes globally recognized thought leaders on climate and energy, forests and lands, and sustainable development.

Strategic Plan

Members of the Climate Advisers team have deep substantive knowledge of climate policy in the United States and around the world. The firm is one of the leading climate organizations working to reduce emissions from forests and agriculture. Moreover, the firm is helping to shape global sustainable development policy in ways that better integrate poverty reduction efforts and climate action. These are the core strengths which anchor the organization today. While Climate Advisers has done good work in the energy sector to date—such as helping move the World Bank away from coal financing and promoting energy efficiency policies for vehicles, buildings and appliances in the G20 and elsewhere—Climate Advisers is eager to strengthen its contribution on clean energy. Growing the clean energy practice and its impact is a top strategic priority for 2015 and beyond.

Managing Director of Energy Policy

The Managing Director of Energy Policy will serve as a senior member of the leadership team of Climate Advisers and report to the President/CEO. This person will be an experienced professional in the field of energy policy and lead Climate Advisers’ emerging energy policy and advocacy practice area.

The Managing Director will have demonstrated record of success working with U.S. and global leaders as well as an extensive level of engagement with philanthropic organizations funding energy policy and advocacy campaigns. The Managing Director will also have a strategic vision for further developing Climate Advisers’ energy practice. Because expanding this energy practice will require new resources, the Managing Director should have demonstrated experience fund raising for innovative climate programs from charitable foundations, governments, NGOs and companies. In addition, the Managing Director will have considerable experience with energy policy and corporate social responsibility campaigns in India, China, United States and other major economies.

The Managing Director will have extensive background in economics and be capable of conducting original energy sector analysis. The Managing Director will be an energetic and entrepreneurial leader, possessing sophisticated political, management, and strategic capabilities. The Managing Director will bring a genuine excitement and commitment to Climate Advisers’ mission.

Beyond providing internal organizational leadership, the Managing Director will be expected to serve as a leader, expanding the reach and influence of Climate Advisers with critical public, private, and philanthropic leaders. The broad objectives and goals for the Managing Director are:

  • To lead the enterprise in addressing a range of policy and program issues, including setting priorities, providing financial and staff leadership, and designing and implementing a plan to build a substantially larger energy policy and energy corporate social responsibility campaign practice area for the company.
  • To continue to expand the financial base of the organization, pursuing philanthropic funding and other creative sources of revenue, thereby helping to solidify a sustainable future for the company.
  • To expand the reach and public recognition of Climate Advisers as an international leader in the energy sector, both in the United States and around the world.
