Join the team that is driving the growth of BC's green economy and creating the carbon market in the province. Pacific Carbon Trust is a provincially-owned Crown corporation, launched in 2008 to build the market for made-in-BC carbon offsets. PCT is well on its way to building a world class portfolio spanning the full range of offset projects. With an annual estimated demand of up to 1 million tonnes and revenues of up to $25 million per year, PCT will soon be one of the top five carbon offset providers in North America. The corporation is in the midst of deploying in excess of $20 million to support emission reduction projects across a broad range of sectors, including forestry, oil & gas, power, mining, waste, and clean technology. We are actively seeking a new Managing Director to join our growing team and to help us build the market for carbon offsets and emissions trading in BC, as we help position the province to play an active role in a carbon-constrained world. The Managing Director, Finance and Operations will work directly with the CEO and will lead three key corporate areas: financial and investment management and strategy, financial reporting and control, and information technology and other operational activities. The Managing Director will have a major role in setting PCT’s future direction, including, but not limited to, identifying and pursuing new finance and investment opportunities. Ideal candidates for the role will have: o Broad-based, financial management experience with five or more years of increasingly senior management leadership, preferably as a CFO or head of finance o Strong evidence of enhancing the growth, development and operational performance of organizations, including leading strategic direction, identifying opportunities to leverage financial and operational resources, and measuring performance o Clear ability to originate, analyze and interpret financial information for use by staff, the CEO and the Board o Developed and managed strategic and business planning processes, including budget preparation and reporting/monitoring processes with KPIs o Led negotiation and management of agreements with government and other organizations o Demonstrated capability in risk management, including portfolio risk management o Structured debt and equity project finance o Excellent communication skills and relevant experience in dealing with senior stakeholders, including government officials, institutional investors and clients o Involvement in establishing and managing investment funds o An accounting designation and have a degree in business, economics or other relevant field. Experience in carbon finance, banking, investment banking, private equity/venture capital, insurance, and public or tax accounting are considered assets, along with sector experience in energy, carbon, or heavy industries. Pacific Carbon Trust as a crown corporation is able to offer an attractive salary and benefit package commensurate with experience.
