The Manager Renewable Energy will support the Director Renewable Energy Initiative in identifying, sizing, and developing opportunities for energy innovation in the home improvement space. This individual must be a visionary thinker, with the ability to plan and execute towards that vision to deliver innovative energy programs in store and online. This Manager will possess a sense of urgency to deliver results, but demonstrate disciplined project management to drive new products and services to successful execution.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Identify, evaluate and test opportunities for home energy innovation that deliver value to our customers and competitive differentiation to Lowe’s
• Gather and analyze market sizing data and develop detailed financial models to evaluate potential for new opportunities
• Actively research energy related innovation opportunities through various means including internet, vendor relationships, government agencies, innovation brokers, trade shows, universities, etc.
• Track innovative energy technologies and inventors/companies by developing a tool which allows regular updating and periodic status reporting on each opportunity and by technology category
• Perform competitive analysis and update regularly to track competitive energy programs and proactively identify and escalate emerging threats and trends
• Work with customer research to understand market needs, and match voice of the customer to the energy product pipeline to ensure the most relevant opportunities are prioritized for development
• Develop business cases for energy product opportunities and lead investment approval processes including clear articulation of the products competitive value and impact on overall financials
• Lead day-to-day management of project pipeline with partners and stakeholders ensure projects are tracking to milestones, tasks, deliverables and timelines
• Implement best practices, tools and templates to augment the existing project management process and methodology
• Provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise on energy related topics (renewable energy and energy efficiency)
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of presentations to senior management, business unit leaders and major stakeholders in support of identified opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships across the organization in pursuit of sourcing, developing and delivering innovation opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years experience in business development, product development or technical sales
• Minimum of 1 year of training or work experience in solar or other relevant energy technology
• Superior internet research skills and the ability to collect and organize information to track trends and new developments
• Superior analytical skills and expertise using MS Excel
• Ability to perform financial modeling to evaluate the potential value of an opportunity
• Excellent project management skills
• Ability to communicate complex, technical concepts in simple, concise ways
• Fluency in PowerPoint, Word, MS Access and Visio
• Ability to travel 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA or relevant Master’s degree preferred
• Experience and training in various renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, hydro, other)
