Reporting relationship: Vice President of Public Policy in Chicago and works closely with Corporate Communications and Legal. Primary responsibility: The role serves as administrator for the Public Policy Coordinating Group and strategically leads necessary partners within PepsiCo to respond to external public policy requests. Internally, this position is a direct liaison to the 3 leadership teams of the sustainability planks – environment, nutrition and talent – helping to coordinate their goals and commitments with the Public Policy team. Externally, this individual will review questionnaires, letters/emails, calls, proxy resolutions, requests to join organizations, enter into non-marketing sponsorships and any other non-media form of requests from investors, NGOs and others seeking information on issues relating to policy and sustainability, including economic, environmental and social sustainability. This position provides information to Corporate Communications for media, annual meeting, annual and sustainability report and other information needs. This position coordinates with Investor Relations on socially responsible investors and takes a lead in coordinating the Dow Jones Sustainability Index submission. Specific duties include: Inquiries: Determine the flow, prioritization, and direction of inquiries (letters, emails, calls), with the Vice President of Public Policy and the oversight team (Corporate Communications and Legal) providing support to prepare and review responses as well as managing timelines. This position will work with external stakeholders and the Public Policy Group Leaders to prepare and review responses for final review by the Public Policy Coordinating Group and others as needed. Requests to Join issue-oriented Organizations or sponsorships (non-marketing): Lead review of external requests – including the purpose of the group or sponsorship, existing members, requirements of members or sponsorship (cost, meetings, people, other resources). This position will work with the Public Policy Group Leaders and subject matter experts or work groups to prepare a recommendation for response. Questionnaires: Spearhead internal information requests – in particular the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, coordinating with leaders of the three sustainability planks. For other questionnaires, work with the Policy Group Leaders, including Government Affairs, Legal and Corporate Communications, managing requests with internal departments. This individual (with the Policy Group Leaders), will review and edit the information collected and assist in preparation of final product for review by the Public Policy Coordinating Group, Disclosure Committee, and Senior Management as needed. Socially Responsible Investors/Proxy Resolutions: Working with Investor Relations, this position will help determine responses to proxy resolutions, including communications of responses if necessary. This position will ensure that the Public Policy Coordinating Group has been advised of responses and prior commitments to internal and external stakeholders. This position will work with Investor Relations to establish on-going relationship with Socially Responsible Investors. Meetings of the Public Policy Coordinating Group: Serve as the Administrator of the Public Policy Coordinating Group by scheduling meetings and arrangements, developing the agenda and materials/presentations for review in conjunction with the Public Policy Group Leaders and various subject matter experts. This individual will also distribute the minutes, pre-reads and follow-ups for actions. Non-Financial Goals/Database: Work with Public Policy team and Sustainability plank leaders and Subject Matters to help manage public commitments and goals. Provide guidance and oversight for the creation of a policy and sustainability initiative database. External Communications: Partner with Corporate Communications to provide data, positions and background necessary for use at Annual Meetings, Annual and Sustainability Reports and media inquiries on policies and sustainability initiatives. International: Build relationships with global business units to ensure easy communication on policy issues. Research: Research external groups such as NGOs, activists, shareholder groups, business groups who are making informational inquiries or demands and determine their motivations, standing and partners so we can set strategic priorities amongst competing interests. Serve as a policy analyst for specific projects for the Government Affairs team.
