Manager Programmes & Volunteer Co-ordination•New role We are involved in hundreds of conservation projects each year, from forest restoration to breeding programmes. This new role will provide effective portfolio management of these key programmes in order to facilitate sharing of best practice, provide consistent frameworks and systems and to optimise opportunities for growth. Volunteers are the life-blood of Forest & Bird, clocking up an estimated 864,000 hours every year. They help out on a variety of tasks that contribute to enhanced protection of our native plants, animals and habitats such as pest control, building and maintaining tracks and taking part in local events such as Conservation Week. Reporting to the Group Manager Conservation and Volunteers (based in Christchurch), you will be pivotal in identifying and promoting volunteering opportunities, engaging existing volunteers and inspiring potential new ones. The aim is to make volunteering for Forest & Bird fun, rewarding and safe by providing training and resources to Forest & Bird’s Volunteer Coordinators and branch networks. Person Profile: •Sound programme management skills and experience, with the ability to guide and direct others responsible for implementing specific projects •An understanding of the principles and practice of volunteering and volunteer programmes, including awareness of national and international volunteer trends •Experience in managing a geographically dispersed team •Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to foster effective relationships at branch and community level •Autonomous and self-managing Applications close: 5.00pm Thursday 16 October 2014 Contact: Kirsty McLaren |
