Manager of Sustainability

This position will serve two distinct roles: Maintain a high level of project based productivity while assisting the Chicago office in the development of a sustainability policy/program. HNTB Chicago offers a broad range of services in the transportation industry including the design and construction of highway, expressway, tollway, airport, and passenger and freight rail systems. The office also provides pre-design and specialty services in water, intelligent transportation, technology, urban planning and design, and environmental planning services. Nationally, HNTB is a leader is a leader in civic architecture.

Job Duties:

• A primary focus of this position will be to provide guidance, advice and technical sustainability assistance on infrastructure design and construction projects involving roadway, tollway, aviation, transit and related improvements.
• Create and execute a strategy for sustainable programs to provide HNTB a competitive edge in the Chicago marketplace.
• Assist with the demonstration of the value of sustainable business practices to our employees and our clients.
• Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for select divisional and firm-wide pursuits/needs.
• Provide leadership and direction in areas such as LEED certification, carbon accounting, climate change, environmental performance, waste management and green building.
• Identify priority categories where cost and sustainability savings can be achieved on a whole life costing basis, based on level of spend and/or reputational risk.
• Develop standards of performance and QA/QC requirements for a sustainability practice.
