Ducks Unlimited’s MAV conservation program focuses on restoring, enhancing and protecting critical wetland habitat in the four-state region through the America’s River and Southeast Wetlands Conservation Initiatives.  We are seeking an individual with proven abilities in team leadership, strategic and business plan implementation, budget and personnel administration, land protection, programmatic fundraising, partnership development and stewardship, and public policy to help lead our conservation programs.

A minimum of 5 years of related experience and a M.S. or Ph.D. in ecology, biology, or environmental sciences is preferred.  Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a diverse team.  Significant regional travel is required.

Duties will include:

• Providing leadership to facilitate the growth and implementation of DU’s conservation initiatives in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama with primary focus on the MAV.

• Supervising a staff of conservation professionals, and preparing and managing annual budgets.

• Managing diverse and discrete program elements including: North American Wetlands Conservation Act-funded efforts, Wetland Reserve Program, and Rice Stewardship Program.

• Guiding the development, selection, prioritization, and delivery of conservation projects.

• Working with fundraising staff to secure funding for conservation work.

• Strengthen and maintain relationships with federal, state, private landowner, and corporate partners.

• Assisting communications and marketing efforts.

• Working with Director’s of Conservation Programs, Policy, and Services on regional strategic and business plans, fundraising, science, public policy and budget and personnel administration.

This position will be located at the Southern Regional Office in Ridgeland, Mississippi and will report to the Director of Conservation Programs - Southeast Region.
