Description:
This position is a great opportunity for a communications professional who has a passion for sustaining the environment. Working closely with subject matter experts and our broader communications team, this position will serve as a content expert to develop communication plans on environmental sustainability strategy and initiatives and support stakeholder engagement. McDonald's has a heritage of environmental initiatives and is implementing a newly developed, robust environmental strategy ' communication is critical to sharing our story and reporting on our efforts.

The Manager of Communications -- Environmental Sustainability will be responsible for developing and managing environmental communication strategies to support McDonald's U.S. business. This role involves creating communication programs and plans that effectively reach and engage our key stakeholders, both internal and external audiences, and enhances McDonald's overall Brand Trust within the U.S. market place.

The Manager will also provide strategic counsel and communications support for members of McDonald's U.S. sustainability, leadership teams, agency partners and other relevant departments as needed.

Principal Accountabilities:

 

  • Provides strategic counsel and communication support for VP and Director of environmental sustainability
  • Maintains and leverages subject matter expertise in environmental sustainability, such as the terminology, tone, audience and channels, and proactively identifies and applies new, creative ways to reach key audiences
  • Gathers, analyzes and incorporates industry best practices into McDonald's communications efforts as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates teamwork within the U.S. Communications team as a whole ' i.e., supporting team members, Agency support and providing coaching/mentoring.
  • Represents U.S. Communications both internally and externally at industry and business functions, events, etc. Brings back knowledge and new information to the department to further the team's collective skills development and leadership.
  • Develops and manages all resources to support communications programs as needed (e.g., budget, agency support, team support, etc.).

Experience:

Minimum requirements for position:

  • B.S or B.A. in communications-related field.
  • At least 5-10 years experience in the Communications field.
  • In-depth knowledge of print, electronic, and online communication strategies and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Extensive writing background; including leadership presentations, business messaging and speeches.
  • Environmental/sustainability background and experience is preferred.
