Description

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), the leader in wetland conservation, is looking for a confident, energetic and innovative manager to lead our Native Plant Solutions program in Western Canada, which is a fee-for-service branch of DUC that provides environmental expertise in wetlands and uplands to industry, land developers, and government agencies.

Reporting to the Director of Regional Operations, you will be responsible for developing business and operational planning, revenue generation, marketing, human resource management and the cultivation of key business relationships. The key responsibility of this position is to generate net revenue for DUC’s conservation mission.

At Ducks, we’re going places. You need to be an enthusiastic team player – a self-starter who can work cross-functionally, is
capable of taking calculated risks and enjoys thinking out of the box.

Your minimum eight years’ experience in upland and wetland reclamation, along with a demonstrated ability to manage and
motivate staff make you the ideal candidate for this position, which will be located in Alberta or Saskatchewan. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of potential market opportunities for environmental expertise in one of the primary markets in Alberta or Saskatchewan (e.g., Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton). Goal-oriented and self-motivated, you have a high degree of business acumen, an entrepreneurial spirit, strong communication skills and a desire to continuously improve operations. You are a contract/project management specialist; a true leader with visionary qualities who consistently delivers quality results in a complex, changing environment.

Requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree in ecology, agronomy or business, with a strong conservation understanding.
  • Experience supervising a team of multi-disciplinary professionals.
  • Strong proposal writing, presentation and cold-calling skills.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Familiarity with the non-profit or environmental conservation sectors are definite assets.

In Canada we lose 80 acres of wetlands every 24 hours and we need your help to stop this loss. If you’re interested in this opportunity, please submit your cover letter and resumé for confidential consideration to the attention of:
