SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Manager Interior West Government Affairs will lead the company’s government affairs efforts (legislative and regulatory) in states west of the Mississippi exclusive of the West Coast states, and focused on Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Nevada. This position will monitor developments in these solar markets and work with the Vice President, Government Affairs to develop appropriate strategies to grow new markets and protect existing markets. This person is responsible for creating and building relationships with various associations, policy-makers, lobbyists and government affairs personnel from other industry related companies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee regulatory and legislative responsibility for CO, AZ, NM, UT, and NV
  • Serve as SunEdison’s liaison with elected officials and regulatory departments
  • Utilize a deep understanding of renewable energy financing to influence policy-makers
  • Ability to meet several disparate goals at the same time
  • Serve as an all purpose resource for all SunEdison business units
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment with little or no supervision
  • Identify loan, grant and other opportunities created from initiatives set at the local, state and federal levels

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, government or other suitable subject.
  • 3-5 years experience working for an energy company, environmental group, renewable company or renewable trade association
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with sound judgment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.

The job is performed indoors in a fast paced office setting.
