Manager, Generation Canada

Scope of Position

?EDF Energies Nouvelles is a leader in the production of renewable energy worldwide. The company develops, installs and operates green electricity power plants, mainly in Europe and North America primarily for its own owner-operator account and for third parties. The North American branch of EDF Energies Nouvelles is EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) and manages the business of the US, Canada and Mexico as well as the US.  EDF EN Canada was incorporated in 2008 and since that time, EDF EN Canada has pioneered project management and site implementation for key wind and solar opportunities in Canada.

Working Conditions

?80% of time is spent in an office environment using computers, telephones and office equipment. 20% of the time is spent away from the office on existing projects, future projects, partner offices, conferences, seminars as well as meetings with government agencies.

Responsibilities

?Assume the role of partnership representative on behalf of EDF EN Canada for facilities under generation; Find opportunities to grow project and portfolio value; Manage the Generation Group of EDF EN Canada, consisting in three Asset Managers; Play a leadership role in the resolution of problems with partners, customers, contractors and subcontractors; Manage and supervise the business responsibilities and obligations of the assigned projects; Manage and supervise the proper execution of all trade agreements (energy sales, leases, Operations and Maintenance, insurance, finance, guarantee payments, etc.); Supervise and manage relationships with landowners, First Nations, government authorities and local communities; For long term technical problems, assume the management and monitoring of the solutions to resolution; Ensure full environmental compliance of the projects; Manage all financial and budgetary aspects of projects in close coordination with the Finance team to ensure timely delivery; Prepare and create monthly reports, operation budgets, reporting on financial variances and production and other ad hoc as required by the company; Works with the EDF RE Generation Group, employees in development, construction and Operations & Maintenance employees in the development stages of the project to ensure that issues are addressed and communicated to the owners, manage the transition facilities from the teams of Development & Construction to Generation, integration of Operations and Maintenance and supervision of the activities of the facility; Supervise and coordinate with Operations & Maintenance group as well as site managers all technical and operational issues; Provide other companies staff the information they need; coordinate cross activities in different groups when circumstances require; Perform, or cause to perform, operational assessments, analysis on the costs of major repairs, financial recuperation and all various analyzes ; All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company or immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

?Engineer’s Degree with complement in business, or Master’s Degree in science with operational experience or Business degree with experience in energy• Bilingual : Fluency in both French and English required; Knowledge of the routine use of technical terms, commercial agreements, generation processes, and equipment used in the field of renewable energy and or power generation, Previous experience in administration or management of energy generation projects; Have working knowledge of financial statements, cash flow, audits and general business management;  Must have strong commercial skills and working knowledge of contracts, obligations, agreements, etc. Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and experience of dealing effectively with peers, subordinates, management and  different partners; Ability to work effectively with standard office software, including SAP or similar enterprise programs; Travel Required: Travel time required is ~20% (Canada and US); Ability to travel and cross the border to the United States and or France is a requirement for this position;

Note:  Will be required to act as corporate officer.
