The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Manager, Equine Cruelty Issues for its Campaign’s section. The main responsibility of this position is to address equine neglect and abuse across the country and to organize a coalition of equine rescue groups and individuals to be responsive to this issue. Other duties include, but are not limited to: work with law enforcement and other public officials on the investigation, prosecution and/or resolution of equine cruelty cases; oversee the care and transport of equines seized from cruelty situations, including severe neglect; develop relationships and coalitions with equine rescue groups, veterinarians, animal shelters and equine advocates to implement strategies on equine protection; create and oversee an emergency response network of such organizations and individuals; oversee training of law enforcement nationwide to respond to equine cruelty cases; develop training materials and conduct in- service training sessions for law enforcement in areas of greatest need. A Bachelor’s Degree along with one to three years experience in working with law enforcement, especially in equine cruelty and neglect, highly desired.
