Manager, Energy, Air Quality, and Climate Policy Dialogue

The Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) seeks a candidate to develop CCAP’s U.S. policy agenda and manage CCAP’s current domestic Climate Policy Initiative, a dialogue among key industrial and other stakeholders directed toward developing U.S. federal energy and air quality policies and industrial incentives to achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions and greater energy efficiency. In addition, s/he will coordinate activity in support of rigorous international offsets, a part of California’s landmark legislation, AB 32, the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

The candidate will develop CCAP’s U.S. policy agenda and corresponding outreach and fundraising strategy to maintain and extend the Center’s impact on clean energy, air quality and climate policy.  The candidate will work with CCAP’s domestic policy team to implement all facets of the agenda.  S/he will be responsible for convening regular Climate Policy Initiative dialogues with members and other key stakeholders.  Through effective outreach, education and analytical functions, the candidate will build and maintain lasting and productive relationships with industry, policy makers, other NGOs, and funders. The candidate will exude confidence and leadership participating in the complex and extensive policy-making and coalition-building process.  

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will be an articulate professional with sophistication, intelligence, drive and experience in environmental and energy policy.  S/he will ideally hold a Master’s degree in Public Policy or a related field and have a minimum of five years of policy and industry experience.  Additionally, ideal applicants will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes and experiences: 

• An ability to anticipate creative opportunities for collaboration and dialogue and contribute to new positive approaches;
• Substantive knowledge of and/or experience in energy, industrial energy efficiency, air quality and climate policy and the ability to understand and articulate sophisticated scientific, policy and economic analysis;
• Demonstrated experience working with industry stakeholders in trade associations or coalition settings;
• Experience with fundraising from corporate donors and foundations;
• Superior oral and written communication skills with the ability to write for both policy and analytic audiences,  reach out to stakeholders, and present to and lead groups;
• Experience with project planning and management;
• The flexibility and proven ability to work in a collaborative environment; and
• A sense of humor, adaptability, humility and creativity.
