Description
The Political & Business Unit is responsible for translating campaign demands into national/regional policies. The Unit provides strategic inputs & advice on political and business realities around each campaign issue. This is then followed with representation, negotiations and lobby work at appropriate forum to drive the achievement of our campaigns' political objectives.

The mid-term Political objectives of Greenpeace Campaigns are:

Climate & Energy
  • Renewable Energy Law by 2010
  • Lobby for a good deal in Copenhagen and thereafter
  • Strong National Climate Policy
  • 12th 5-year plan moves away from Coal to decentralized Renewable Energy and Efficiency
Sustainable Agriculture
  • Shift subsidy away from chemical fertilizers towards organic
  • National Policy that supports organic/sustainable farming in 3-5 years
Oceans
  • Legislation on community based Marine Protected Areas in 3-5 years
Toxics
  • Legislation for zero emissions of industrial effluents into water bodies (3-5years)
