The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is a private, non-profit organization that prides itself on its entrepreneurial, science-based approach to achieving conservation success through direct action. Purpose and General Description:

NCC’s Ontario Region is looking for a highly motivated Major Gifts Officer to join our team of fundraisers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Ontario Region’s Manager, Major Gifts, the incumbent will:

  • Assume a lead role in the coordination and delivery of fundraising activities to further NCC’s conservation work in Midwestern Ontario, primarily through major gift asks;
  • Increase sub-regional project and program revenues from individuals, foundations, and corporations by building and managing donor relationships;
  • Write and deliver timely proposals and reports to donors;
  • Organize small fundraising events in support of projects and programs.

Required Skills and Attributes:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • At least three years of fundraising experience, preferably in a major campaign;
  • Demonstrated successful experience in a fundraising role, including proposal writing, and volunteer and event coordination skills;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to prepare and manage timelines, goals and expectations wisely;
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint;
  • Working knowledge of Raisers’ Edge;
  • A demonstrated awareness of conservation issues in Ontario;
  • Understanding of and commitment to the role and mission of The Nature Conservancy of Canada;
  • Ability to work and travel within a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and evenings;
  • A valid Ontario Drivers’ License is necessary.
