Greenpeace Africa is an international NGO based in Johannesburg South Africa. The organization is currently seeking a Major Gifts and Funding Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible to manage and coordinate the solicitation of major gifts to Greenpeace Africa. The Major Gifts and Funding Manager is expected to carry out the delivery, coordination and management of all advancement strategies related to major gifts both locally and internationally.
Job Specification: The successful candidate will manage all donations of R100,000 and above and also focus on the following:
- Cultivate individual major donors from Greenpeace Africa databases and other prospect sources.
- Identify key priority projects, and create potential major donor / Organizational fundraising opportunities.
- Monitor on-going campaign projects.
- Draft proposals and write reports for all major gift opportunities.
- Sustain a transparent relation with donors and internal support structures regarding all funding received by Greenpeace Africa.
- Support and provide advice on all fundraising efforts of other Greenpeace NROs and GPI when generating funds for Greenpeace Africa.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive individual gift recognition program that ensures all major and planned giving donors receive appropriate, consistent and an accounting of the impact of their gift.
- Develop and maintain a system to ensure that all major donors, foundations and other Greenpeace offices globally are regularly updated on Greenpeace Africa’s activities and achievements.
- Perform other job related duties as requested or assigned by the Advancement Director and the Executive Director.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Must have Grade 12 or a qualification equivalent to a Senior Certificate.
- Degree within the following fields: Business Administration, Marketing or Communication Science.
- Three years’ middle management experience in fundraising, sales or customer service within an International NGO sector.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
- Financial and budget management skills.

- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Must have attitude of continuous learning and self-development.
- Good planning and organising skill.
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer skills ( MS Word, Excel, Internet and database software)
Additional Qualities
- Good command of the French language will serve as an advantage.
- Sensitive to socio- economic environment of the region
