Vestas Blades Americas, Windsor, CO
Production Engineering & Maintenance - Maintenance Technician
Provides support to the production group in the manufacturing of wind turbine blades by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
  • Perform regular maintenance on production equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability of all facets of electrical power troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, multimeter, megohmmeter and oscilloscope.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Troubleshooting skills of both AC and DC power distribution and controls.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts. MIG, TIG and stick welding, also weld aluminum.
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part to be fabricated.
  • Works with engineers, production personnel on projects designed to improve process.
  • Safely perform duties related to generating and storing hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areas.
  • Safely perform duties related to the movement and storing hazardous waste containers from satellite to 90 day accumulation areas.
  • And all other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); licensed industrial/commercial journeyman electrician, Associates degree preferred
· One to three years related experience and/or training in a similar role
Language Ability
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
Math Ability
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
  • Basic skills in Microsoft programs
  • Basic computer skills
