We are seeking a talented, creative and highly motivated young scientist for a three years John Stocker Postdoctoral Fellowship based at Macquarie University and working, in partnership with the CSIRO. The successful applicant will work  in the area of enhancing solar energy conversion by using plasmonics and nanotechnology, under the guidance of Professor Ewa Goldys (Macquarie University), Dr Timothy Davis (CSIRO)  and Dr Svetlana Dligach (CSIRO). This is an experimental research program with a strong theoretical component.
 
The applicant must be an early career researcher with no more than 3 years since the PhD award.

Specifically you will:

  • Contribute to the clean energy research aiming to reduce and capture emissions in transport and energy generation
  • Perform as a primary driver of key project tasks, carry out initial structure design, subsequent structure fabrication, characterisation, data analysis and design iterations.
  • Build the research reputation of the Macquarie University-CSIRO research group and provide the link between the Partner institutions to help meet its scientific and organisational objectives.
  • Report results in oral and written form, and write papers for peer-reviewed Journals, reports and patents.

Salary:      $71,597 - $76,801 per annum, plus 17% employer’s superannuation

To be successful you will have:  

  • An internationally recognised PhD degree in Physics, or evidence of its completion in the very near future
  • Strong experimental background in the research areas of plasmonics, or nanophotonics with a documented track record of relevant publications
  • Able to work independently and also as a member of a team
  • Well developed communication skills verbal and written,
  • Evidence of problem solving ability
