We have a permanent vacancy for the above post to be based in the South of England.  Reporting to the Head of Local Authority Services, the post holder will be responsible for supporting the Energy Saving Trust and the Advice Centres in their delivery of support to the Local Authorities regarding climate change.  The postholder will also link Energy Saving Trust's Local Authority work more strategically with that of other teams and programmes. 

The key responsibilities of the role will be to:
  • Assist in the delivery of the one-to-one support programme;
  • Manage existing relationships with one-to-one supported local authorities;
  • Participate in the selection panel for new local authorities for the programme;
  • Assist with the delivery of the Practical Help service;
  • Contribute to the development of future EST activities & workplan;
  • Develop and deliver a Mentor Support to the advice network members and internal members;
  • Ensure all contractual and monitoring activities are in line with procedures;
  • Engage with all relevant internal & external stakeholders in the development & delivery of one-to-one support and other activities.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Experience developing relationships with organisations, preferably local authority, at both operational and senior management level;
  • Strong project management / delivery experience;
  • Understanding of UK policy context on sustainable energy and how to influence other organisations¿ policies and strategies;
  • Excellent understanding of sustainable energy issues and solutions - particular reference to housing and transport;
  • Good understanding of the local government (and local community) framework, and the associated issues and opportunities;
  • Good understanding of project and financial management: progress planning and monitoring, budget management, reporting and evaluation, managing third party contractors, forecasting etc.
