The Sustainable Seafood legal researcher will provide crucial support to the biodiversity team at ClientEarth with a focus on the Sustainable Seafood Coalition (SSC). The SSC is a globally unique cross-industry group of businesses that sell fish and seafood in the UK, whose vision it is that all fish and seafood sold in the UK be from sustainable sources. Member businesses are all actively working towards this vision through responsible behaviour in line with the sourcing and the labelling codes, both signed off in September 2014, with a one year implementation period. More information is available on the SSC website: http://sustainableseafoodcoalition.org/

ClientEarth is the secretariat for the SSC and is responsible for its day to day management, membership and coordinating meetings. The SSC secretariat sits within the Biodiversity Programme at ClientEarth.

This role will provide legal research and expertise on all arising matters in the sustainable seafood team. In particular, over the next year we will be scoping a new project to collaborate with NGOs and businesses in North America and in Spain. Funding for this position is initially for 18 months.
