About the role and the School for System Change

At Forum for the Future we’re building a School for System Change and we’re looking for an outstanding individual to lead development and realisation of our ambitious plans.

If you’re passionate about the need for system change in response to sustainability challenges, and most importantly the role that learning plays in making this happen, then this may be the challenge of your lifetime.

Background

We know we need to rapidly increase the number of people who can think and act systemically, and grow our network of people able to implement radical change. So, we are building a global learning community of system change practitioners.

For 20 years Forum ran our Masters in Leadership for Sustainable Development, producing almost 250 leaders creating impact across organisations and places. Now we’re raising our ambition in response to the urgency of the challenges we face.

That’s why, in our 20th anniversary year, we now have an even bigger ambition: an international learning programme for system change that builds on the best of the UK Masters degrees, combines it with Forum’s system innovation expertise and collaborates with cutting edge learning providers and system change practitioners around the world. The School for System Change will offer access to the best learning experiences, tools, and case studies, curated by Forum. People who go through these learning experiences will form the basis for a community of people developing and sharing their skills and learning in system change for sustainability.

Our development is funded by a coalition of sponsors: Diageo Foundation (lead sponsor), Lankelly Chase, C&A Foundation and contribution from Forum’s pioneer partners.

What will the Learning Programme Lead do?

This is a rare opportunity to drive the development of a flagship project for Forum for the Future, with scope for huge creativity and impact.

The Lead will be responsible for driving forward the development and realisation of a learning programme and complementary online platform. Our vision is to deliver an offer internationally and flexibly, with access to not just our work and learning but to others too.

The Lead will also need to be entrepreneurial as this is a new start up.  They will be responsible for refining and validating suitable delivery and business models and working with others in Forum to secure longer term funding for the programme accordingly.

Where does this role sit within the organisation?

The Lead sits within Forum’s System Innovation Lab team and will be pivotal in ensuring Forum’s continued presence in the sustainability learning space and for keeping that at the cutting edge. You will be working closely with the Head of System Innovation Lab, Deputy CEO and Director of Programmes - as well as partners and Forum staff across all teams and geographies - to ensure integration and scale of impact.

Who are we looking for?

If you thrive bringing an idea to life and growing the community you need to make it happen, in what can be an ambiguous and fast-changing landscape, then you’ll relish the role. You should also understand our values and mission

Full details of the role and person specification can be found in the job description.

Does this sound like you?

Initially this is a fixed term contract of 9 months in the first instance to develop a financially and operationally viable programme proposition, prototyping elements to be ready for delivery in 2017. Extension of this contract will be subject to success with regards to key deliverables.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the relevant geography.
