To design, deliver and evaluate a range of experiential learning programmes which engage key corporate employee audiences in Earthwatch’s model of developing environmental leaders.  These training programmes will inspire participants to personally engage with environmental and sustainability issues, leading to behaviour change at home and at work.

To be achieved through working in close collaboration with Earthwatch Engagement, Development, Research and Field Management teams

PRIORITY FOCUS:

Primary focus of this role will be the operational delivery of 2 priority grants:

  • Alcoa Earthwatch Fellows program - design & development of formal learning programme and facilitation of Alcoa teams in Brazil & China (65%)
  • BAT Biodiversity Partnership – scoping of new learning programme to embed biodiversity and sustainability thinking and behaviour in BAT Brazil (30%)
  • Educator programme – support development of transition plan to new strategy, including supporting Americas Development team to secure resource for implementation (5%)

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Design, test and develop replicable new learning programmes via funded programmes, tailored to key audiences, leveraging existing programme materials (HCP, Alcoa, Living Landscapes):

    1. Identify & agree programme aims, objectives, outputs & outcomes
    2. Design & develop integrated research and learning journey & core programme agenda, as relevant, with attention to  appropriate measurement parameters to facilitate end-of-program assessment of success
    3. Design & develop training modules as required, to include pre-field work, in field training plans and materials
    4. Provide support to key subject matter experts (incl EW Research team, Partner sustainability experts, PIs) to develop effective training plans and materials as part of the programme
    5. Deliver pilot programmes, capturing feedback throughout
    6. Review and modify programme design & materials until signed off for roll out
  1. Deliver learning components of current funded programmes to a high standard against agreed learning aims and objectives:
  1.  
    1. Manage and update global template of materials
    2. Work with Engagement and Learning team to ensure timely delivery of pre-work as relevant
    3. Facilitate field-based learning programmes, as appropriate
    4. Continuous improvement of learning programme impact, based upon feedback from participants and delivery team
    5. Contribute to programme reporting through learning impact evaluation
  1. Build excellence in Earthwatch’s capability and capacity to develop and deliver high impact, integrated research & learning programmes, working with (w/w) Programme Partners and Earthwatch Research, Field Management and Engagement teams, to include:
  • Delivery of Train the Trainer for field teams and facilitators, as relevant
  • w/w field-based Research/FM team to tailor core learning programme to project & ES audience, as relevant
  1. W/w Engagement, Research & ICT on creating an effective alumni & network for priority focus programs (see above), to include:
  • Support for creating an active alumni network
  • Input to post field support materials and resources
  1. Ensure effective learning impact evaluation of priority focus programs (see above), to include:
    1. w/w Engagement to measure ongoing the learning impact of programmes on participants, contributing to Earthwatch MoS tracking/reporting
    2. seeking feedback from participants and delivery team to enable continuous programme improvement
    3. lead on external learning impact evaluation studies
  1. Contribute as an active member of EW’s learning team, focusing on the Americas region and providing appropriate learning and audience expertise for North and Latin America
  1. Work with the Americas Development teams to provide input to the development of new partner learning programme proposals, as required by Head of Global Learning

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese
  • Proven track record in designing, implementing and evaluating effective experiential learning strategies and solutions in North America and/or Latin America
  • Proven track record in delivering experiential learning programmes, facilitating participatory processes and group learning and development
  • Experience of working within the corporate sector, ideally within a learning and development function; familiarity with nonprofit sector a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of key participatory learning and personal development principles (including approaches and tools such as learning styles, MBTI, participatory action research, appreciative inquiry etc) and learning media (including e-learning)
  • Passion for and commitment to the environment, conservation, participatory learning principles and personal/organisational development
  • Familiarity with working in multi-cultural environments and cross-functional teams – ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity
  • Demonstrated creative thinking
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills – verbal and written
  • Excellent project / programme management and team working skills

This role based in Earthwatch’s Boston office and will require international travel

Compensation:  45K to 55K Good benefits
