The Market Transformation Initiative is a WWF programme that strives towards a future that offers only choices of goods made responsibly – in which business and markets support a Living Planet.

The Leader will provide dynamic leadership to the WWF network in the development and implementation of this initiative, uniting WWF leaders in support of a shared and compelling vision.

The key requirements are:

  • A university degree and technical proficiency in conservation, natural sciences, management, international development or another relevant field; an MBA or other advanced degree related to business or markets is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years professional experience in a leadership role, with demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams and multiple donor budgets.
  • A successful candidate will have all or some of the following experience: proven experience in international commodity production or trade; certification schemes; business engagement and CSR; program and policy development; negotiations with internal and external stakeholders; design and activation of strategic international partnerships.
  • Private sector experience and on-the-ground management experience in commodity production in emerging markets are an asset.
  • Strategic thinker, communicator and motivator.
  • Excellent knowledge of market systems, market transformation issues and context.
  • Strong negotiating and lobbying skills learned in either NGO, governmental, or business environments.
  • Experience in raising and mobilising funding.
  • Proven success in leading global teams.
  • Proven experience of working with different cultures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organisation.
  • Excellent command of English; other languages relevant to places of Initiative implementation an asset.
