Role description

This role is to lead, co-ordinate and execute KCB Engineering and Environmental business in the arctic and subarctic regions of Canada and Alaska. Project opportunities can include impact assessments and permitting for on-shore and offshore geotechnical engineering project site assessments and remediation projects for oil and gas, mining and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will:

  • Participate in business planning and annual revenue and labor budgeting processes
  • Execute the annual business plan with support from senior management
  • Manage local and Northern client interfaces and maintain key client relationships
  • Respond to RFP’s, write proposals and develop business
  • Manage and execute northern projects, including preparation of budgets cost-tracking and submission of project status reports
  • Preparation and review of technical reports
  • Manage, mentor and train employees
  • Participate in recruiting to facilitate Northern business growth

Being active in executing Northern projects is a key consideration for this position. Field work at remote sites may be required and commitments of up to three weeks in the field can be expected.

 

Qualifications, experience and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agrology, Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, or Environmental Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of consulting experience with a least 5 years of Northern experience in related engineering or environmental fields
  • Strong technical writing skills for preparation of reports for distribution to clients and/or regulatory agencies
  • Registered with the Alberta Institute of Agrologists, Biologists or APEGGA.A proven ability to work with project teams
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication skills and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor young professionals
