Description

Research & Policy Solutions

Ecos is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Advantage IQ, a leader in Energy Management solutions. The Research and Policy team identifies technologies that save energy, develops standardized test procedures for those products, and assists government agencies, companies, and utilities in developing energy efficiency specifications. It also designs programs to accelerate market adoption of the most energy efficient products.

Ecos is an ideal work environment for individuals who want to have a decisive impact on climate change, air quality, energy security and other national policy priorities through market-based approaches. The work is diverse, fast-paced, and collaborative, allowing motivated employees to advance rapidly while developing their own skills and capabilities.

Ecos is seeking to fill a Lead Analyst position in the Durango, Colorado office, or Portland, Oregon office. As a Lead Analyst, you will work on cutting-edge research and policy topics at the intersection of energy and environmental issues. You will be able to develop close relationships with colleagues while shaping today’s energy policy and your own future. As a member of the Research and Policy team, you will experience having a decisive impact on government policies and corporate actors in the energy-efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability fields.

Role Description

In the Lead Analyst position, you will be responsible for developing expertise on a unique set of topics. You will collaborate with the Research and Policy team in its work on the efficiency of consumer electronics and office equipment. You will be responsible for working with a laboratory technician to gather data on power use of electronics, maintain data sets, and estimate energy use and savings potential (often on the basis of limited market data). Your primary role will be to translate that scientific work into market outcomes by establishing relevant contacts with consumer electronics industry and subject-matter experts, creating visuals that effectively communicate data and conclusions, writing reports recommending specific policy actions, and giving highly visual presentations of research findings to industry members, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

You will have project management responsibilities, including developing work plans, budgets, and timelines that address not only your own workload, but also the workload of your associates and subcontractors on the project. You will prepare monthly progress reports for the client, review invoices, and, with support from senior management, manage the internal team of experts that support project deliverables. You will be required to travel to meet with clients and stakeholders associated with your area of expertise. In addition, you will have some opportunity to assist with Research and Policy business development in consumer electronics energy efficiency.

Role Competencies

As our ideal candidate, you should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree related to the energy, environmental, or engineering fields and 3 to 8 years of energy-oriented environmental work experience. You should have a strong background in science or engineering and have demonstrated lab or field measurement and data analysis experience. Experience interfacing with clients and managing projects $100k or larger is also required. In addition, you should have a strong ability to communicate technical subjects to lay audiences, both in written and verbal form. The ability to work well both independently and with a team is essential.

If you are interested in working for a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company while having a significant impact in the world of energy efficiency, climate and sustainability, we want to hear from you!
