Landscape, Access and Heritage Officer
Starting salary £26,422, with progression through Contribution Related Pay to £30,219 pro rata

Based at The Cedars, Snodland
Full Time, fixed term appointment to 31st March 2012

The Medway Gap is an area of dramatic contrasts. The Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, protected habitats and nationally important archaeological assets all lie within a dramatic landscape shaped by a rich industrial heritage. Part of a dedicated and dynamic team based within the AONB Unit, this is your chance to play an exciting role in completing the work of the Valley of Visions Landscape Partnership Scheme.

We are looking for a multi-skilled individual with a background in either countryside or heritage management (but ideally both). Capable of working on multiple projects at the same time, your work will include tackling large-scale habitat management projects, restoration of important heritage features and delivering new access to the countryside of the valley.

You will enjoy working with people from a variety of backgrounds, using your tact, diplomacy and negotiating skills to achieve the scheme's objectives. You will have a passion for conserving the countryside and its heritage features, enjoy a challenge and be ready to hit the ground running. You will be overseeing several delivery partners as well as being directly responsible for large contracts and will be skilled in their management. Most importantly, you will be able to integrate your projects with those delivered by others in the team and take advantage of new opportunities as they arise. If you have this interesting mix of skills, you may just be the person we are looking for. Then why not be a part of the Valley of Visions?

The Valley of Visions Landscape Partnership Scheme has operated since 2007 with funding of over £2.5m provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund and others. It is a successful and respected project and was recently commended in the UK Landscape Awards. More information on the scheme can be found at www.valleyofvisions.org.uk.

All officers employed by the Valley of Visions Landscape Partnership Scheme work across programmes to support other team members and ensure integration of projects. The team works as part of the Kent Downs AONB Unit and you will be employed by Kent County Council.

To apply visit www.kent.gov.uk, email recruitment.line@kent.gov.uk, or telephone 08458 247 904 or minicom 08458 247 905 (charged at local rate). Please quote reference EHW/011/0006. Closing date midday 2nd March 2011.

Interviews will be held on 11th March 2011.
