Description

This is an exciting new role and a unique opportunity to influence the impact of the world’s leading independent conservation organisation in protecting our planet. To halt global biodiversity loss and the degradation of ecosystems, we have partnered with the Quadrature Climate Foundation on an ambitious two-year project aimed at transforming hearts and minds around the way food is produced in the UK and overseas. We now need you to join this initiative as Land Use, Climate and Nature Policy Manager to lead a key sub-project about how land is managed in the UK.

Join us and you will create a vision for UK landscapes and the services they provide with environmental goals in mind, covering sustainable food production, natural habitats and climate change mitigation and adaptation. You will identify how nature recovery, nature-based climate solutions and sustainable food production could be optimised in UK landscapes, as well as the environmental and social choices and trade-offs that might be necessary. Collaborating with external consultants and partners you will develop a compelling blueprint for the future of land use in the UK that drives our advocacy on reform of agricultural payments, nature recovery, land use change, production and consumption choices and much more.

Ideally with a relevant qualification, you will experience in land use, climate, nature and food production and a track record of working with corporate and philanthropic partners. You will also have used reports, tools and games, examples and social movements to engage on and advocate for changes in policy and practice. You will be able to design and implement programmes as well as monitor their impact too.

Comfortable bringing together diverse stakeholders and creating a culture of collaborative working, you will have strong project management, presentation and interpersonal skills. A team player you are also adept at analysing and overcoming problems and can demonstrate a passion for the natural world and WWF’s core mission.

How to Apply

If you have the skills to help reform the way the UK manages its land and supply chains and are passionate about building a movement in defence of nature, we’d love to hear from you. Please visit our website to complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up to date CV with cover letter highlighting what makes you the perfect fit for the role and what sets you apart from the competition.

Closing date: 9 October 2020

At WWF-UK we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment, where diversity is valued and there is equality of opportunity. We therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community and we offer a range of benefits and flexible workplace options to encourage a work life balance.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We’re looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
