Paid UVM Conservation Internship Summer 2010 LANDS interns support state and federal agencies, land trusts, towns, and other conservation groups in their stewardship work. They work in teams or individually to conduct natural resource inventories, monitoring visits, GIS mapping, invasive species removal, and more. LANDS is based at UVM. Most time will be spent "in the field". Interns complete projects for partners like The Nature Conservancy and The Green Mountain National Forest. BENEFITS: - $2,700 which includes AmeriCorps Education Award/9 weeks - Internship credit - Learn applied conservation skills: Natural Resource Inventory, Applied GIS, Conservation Legal Instruments and more! - Networking with conservation groups via real-world reports and presentations - Spend the summer outdoors in Vermont REQUIREMENTS: - Rising Junior, Senior, or Graduating Senior - Natural Resource, Environmental Studies, Botany, or related major - 6/1 to 8/3, M-F 40hr/week + some overnights - Ability to hike up to 5 miles in steep terrain - Positive attitude & leadership in team settings - A genuine interest in land conservation LANDS is committed to diversifying the conservation movement.
