Description

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (High Weald AONB Partnership)

Land Management Officer or Land Management Project Officer

Location: Flimwell

Salary: £28,815 - £30,973 per annum (SS9) or £32,037 - £38,354 per annum (SS10/11)

Ref: orbis/TP/2849/31233

Closing date: 26 March 2023.

A rare opportunity has arisen to play a leading role in achieving positive land management change within a nationally protected landscape. We are seeking an individual who can advocate the special qualities of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and help land managers, farmers, foresters, and communities take action to achieve local and national targets for climate, nature, people, and place.

Using your environmental knowledge and a range of landscape data and evidence you will undertake advisory site visits, produce maps and reports, and offer guidance and support with grant applications and the practicalities of project implementation. You will take a lead on developing and delivering an events programme that meets the needs of farmers and other land managers.  You will also have the chance to develop and drive innovative partnership projects.

We are looking for candidates who have experience of providing landscape advice and can develop, guide and cost a range of practical land management projects. GIS experience is desirable. Critically you will be able to inspire and guide land managers and communities to take action to care for the area.

As the host authority for the High Weald AONB Partnership, East Sussex County Council is the employing body. However, you will be based within the small, friendly, and dynamic High Weald AONB team. Our innovative office is located at Flimwell on the Kent/Sussex border, and we operate a hybrid working model. We recruit flexibly and will consider applications from candidates interested in part time and term-time working.

Please note we are advertising two job descriptions with salary grades that reflect level of experience. However we are only recruiting to one role.

Please contact Gerry Sherwin, AONB Business Manager on 01424 723014 or email g.sherwin@highweald.org
