The Land Conservation Specialist (LCS) is responsible for implementing the Conservancy’s Land Conservation Strategy, a comprehensive program to conserve natural lands in Arkansas.  This position requires high level negotiation skills in the acquisition of fee-title, conservation easements, land donations, management agreements, leases, and other tools for conserving priority lands.

The LCS works closely with the Field Office conservation team and in partnership with locally-based conservation organizations, timber companies, private landowners, state and federal land-managing agencies, and others agencies at all levels of government.  The LCS coordinates most of the land conservation projects in Arkansas for the Conservancy and is available to support Arkansas Field Office land conservation projects statewide.  The LCS completes all land conservation projects in Arkansas’ Upper West Gulf Coastal Plain (UWGCP) and all projects in cooperation with the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission.

The LCS develops strategic and annual plans and works frequently in the arena of public policy and ensures the community support essential for successful conservation action.
