Sussex Wildlife Trust

Sussex Wildlife Trust is a conservation charity for everyone who cares about nature in Sussex. We focus on protecting the rich natural life that is found across our towns, countryside, coast and seas.  By working alongside local people we create opportunities for us all to connect with nature and for nature to recover and thrive.  Together we aim to make sure that future generations living in Sussex will be able to enjoy the sense of wonder and wide range of benefits that a healthy natural environment gives us.

The Role

This is a new role created to support the delivery aspirations of the Wilder Horsham District Project.  This is a 5 year partnership (started in 2020) between Horsham District Council and the Sussex Wildlife Trust.  This role will provide support for the delivery of the Horsham District Nature Recovery Network, working directly with landowners, community groups and existing practitioners and partnerships in the District.    The post holder will be part of a team advising and supporting others in activities to improve habitats and habitat connectivity as part of an ambitious landscape scale project.

With a District wide geographical portfolio and a broad range of stakeholders, it is possible that you will be asked to undertake occasional evening and weekend work.

The Person

We are looking for someone with a passion for nature’s recovery, who has experience of working with landowners and volunteer groups to enhance habitats, both at a field level and a landscape scale.  The successful candidate will have knowledge of the processes and requirements in planning and organising conservation management in a range of habitats.  You will need to have an understanding of working with rewilding principles and enhancing/restoring natural processes at a site level.  You will be a confident communicator who will act as an advocate for the principles of the Wilder Horsham District project.
