Our client a bulk sugar handling and accredited exporting facility is currently looking to fill the position of Laboratory Supervisor at Maydon Wharf in Durban. The position will be located in the Sugar Terminal-part of the Marketing division of the company. Requirements: · A B-tech Degree in Analytical Chemistry or a suitable equivalent qualification· A minimum of 5 years relevant experience· Experience in a sugar laboratory environment· Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025 Quality systems and LIMS Responsibilities: · Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager· Supervision of several Laboratory Analysts and Sample Mixers to ensure the analytical determinations are executed in accordance with prescribed test methods used to determine the quality of bulk raw sugar received into or dispatched from the facility· Logging and verification of test results on the LIMS· Preparation and standardisation of solutions and samples· Purchasing of laboratory consumables· Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment· Maintenance of safe working conditions in the lab· Monitoring of site effluent· Storage and use of High test Molasses· Calibration of Intake and Export Scales· Preparation of Penalty/ bonus scheme reports A market related package is offered, commensurate at an entry level specialist range.
