Description
|
Objective of Programme:
DAI is seeking experienced candidates for the £130 million BRACED programme spanning up to 10 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. BRACED is expected to directly benefit up to 5 million vulnerable people, especially women and children, in developing countries by helping them become more resilient to climate extremes. This will be achieved through: 1) grants to NGOs and their partners (local government, research organisations, UN agencies and private sector) to scale up proven technologies and practices in the Sahel and selected DFID focal countries at most risk; 2) research and evaluation to build the evidence on what works on adaptation and DRR; and, building national and international capacity to respond to climate related disasters. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Knowledge Management Specialists will:
- Support the development of a BRACED policy research and evaluation plan
- Contribute to establishing the BRACED Monitoring and evaluation framework
- Ensure the delivery of effective knowledge management of what works in building climate resilience
- Collate a range of evidence gathered from BRACED grants on what interventions work, and in which contexts, to strengthen climate resilience
- Produce a range of evidence material suitable targeted at a wide audience and to be disseminated in a rage of methods including; briefs, technical reports, peer reviewed papers, evaluation reports etc.
- Undertake analysis of the evidence gathered through research and evaluations commissioned by the BRACED KM component
- Support the development of experimental technical evaluations methodologies aimed at measuring resilience impact
- Support the dissemination of results to influence policy and ensure broad utilisation of new evidence gathered
- Provide technical assistance to BRACED grantees to improve monitoring performance of BRACED grants
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Environmental Research, Knowledge Management, Development, Monitoring and Evaluation or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in knowledge management and dissemination, ideally related to climate resilience and adaptation
- Knowledge and understanding of climate resilience, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction strategies is essential
- Experience working in developing countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia
- Proven track record in supporting delivery of strategic knowledge management, communications and M&E interventions on climate related and donor funded projects, ideally for DFID
- Proven experience of producing a variety of knowledge management products, tailored to a broad audience
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Willingness to travel to Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia
- Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential; Fluency in French is an advantage
